TRU Praise Inside The Music

On August 25, TRU Praise hosted an "Inside The Music" concert that featured them, their music, and the stories of their experience together in an intimate setting. We were at Complete Studios located in lovely Brooklyn NY, started off with the leader of TRU Praise, Marcus Pass (@BigUncleTRU) giving the history of TRU Praise and what they have worked towards since its inception.  He also asked the audience for feedback on their recent album "Journey", this album debuted at Number 6 on the Christian/Gospel charts on iTunes on its release date. People shared their thoughts and feedback on this great project and they also shared what they thought could be improved on. After all cables were plugged in and microphones checked, it was time to start.

TRU Praise started off their set with "Choose Christ". This is by far my favorite song on the album. I love what it represents, the anthem in which it has, and the vigor that it must be sung with. Followed by that was, All the Time, The Calling, Fix My Heart, and Glad. These songs have not only become permanent fixture in TRU's performance, but it has become something that was made to make a difference and their music is clearly making a difference in and around New York City. Great job TRU Praise!! To purchase "The Journey" (http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/journey/id518058957)

From beginning to end this was pure energy from an awesome group and we finally got to hear their story. If you want more information on TRU Praise you can go to their website: http://trupraisemusic.com, Twitter: @TRUPraise, and FaceBook: http://www.facebook.com/TRUPraise.

Fashion Star Winner Kara Larick [HM Collection]

NBC kicks off the new year with the new reality competition series "Fashion Star," which will search for the next big brand in fashion. The series featured 14 unknown designers and gave them a chance to win a multi-million dollar prize to launch their collections in three of America's largest retailers: Macy's, H&M and Saks Fifth Avenue.

In the end, one designer Kara Larick successfully combined fashion and business to become the Fashion Star and received the prize of a lifetime $6,000,000 million (yeah that’s a lot of zeros) in orders for capsule collections in Macy's, H&M and Saks Fifth Avenue stores. Here are few items from H&M Collection:

Seersucker Season is Upon Us [Gents]

I’m a huge fan of the Seersucker. I thought I just about seen even things that can be done with Seersucker done. Then comes Betabrand who has now fabricated seersucker that goes sideways instead of up-and-down. These are quite possibly the coolest looking warm-weather pants and hoodie I’ve seen! Their secret is a patented ThermoSucka cooling technology. I love the hoodie because it is a light cool fabric that will allow you to rock the layered look on a cool summer day or night. Grab one of these pieces for your summer style arsenal.

GU: What is your favorite product amongst the ones that you have made?

Kensha: My favorite products that I made is my coconut and avocado hot oil treatment and my cholesterol conditioner cream treatment.

GU: Did you always want to start your own business/company?

Kensha: No, I didnt think that I would have ever start my own business but God had a different plan for my life.

GU: What advice can you give other people who would like to start their own company?

Kensha: I will advice them to be patient in every step of the way and you must have a passion and a love for what you do when starting your business, because people have to see that you are truly in love with what you were called to do and do it to your best ability at all time, always give a 110%

Kensha: This is a working progress for me, but very soon my business will be on Facebook, and Google.

My name is Kensha Clarke and I'm the business owner of Destined For Beauty Hair Salon and I just released my 'Touch of Healing' hair products. These products are homemade and they are made with all natural and herbal ingredients that will bring health to any type of hair. I LOVE and have a great passion for what God has called me to do. I'm not like every other hairstylist out there and what sets me apart is that I'm an anointed hairstylist called to bring pure beauty to all women of all ages. Even though I run a business, money doesn't make me happy; hearing the stories about how people's lives were change through destined for beauty hair salon beats all the money in the world!

Here are some other favorites! On the left is the Cholesterol Hair Cream Treatment and the right is the Rosemary Coconut Treatment

I don't know about y'all, but her products are something I definitely can't wait to take a look at. There's nothing like quality hair products, but there's an even greater benefit when it comes from someone who knows that creating these products, is their calling.

You ALL can meet Kensha AND learn more about her business and the products she offers on 4/28 at our Mix & Mingle Trade Show! See you ALL there!!

Seersucker Season is upon Us [Ladies]

Without a doubt one of my favorite parts of Spring/Summer season is seeing ladies in their floral spring/summer dresses. Betabrand has added a twist to the spring/summer dress like only they can. Betabrand has a unique design style all their own and I really like this new take on the summer dress. They have also added a more laid back hoodie option. They have brought a popular Spring & Summer fabric Seersucker (one of my favorite fabrics) to the Summer dress and has given you ladies a summer hoodie option in the same material for those cool summer nights. What I like most about these items is the on trend details with accents trimming, contrast lining, and bright colors.

MMTS: D-Lightfully Sweet N Crafty

Hey Everyone, It's me again!! It's been a while but I'm back and I hope you're ready for what Gospel Unplugged has coming up! On Saturday, 4/28 at 5pm, we will be having our first ever Mix & Mingle Trade Show!! In honor of the trade show (that is going to be ABSOLUTELY DOPE!!), I'll be coming to you from time to time giving you the inside scoop on some of the vendors who will be present at the event!

Today - I introduce to you "D-Lightfully Sweet N Crafty" by Dencia Connor.

Check out what Dencia had to say!

GU: What/who inspired you to start this business?

Dencia: My inspiration came from my mother. She has an amazing imagination and a passion for creativity. Her zeal and drive is what got me more and more interested in crafting. Everytime I see something new in her craft bag I play with it. I would enhance things. I remember my first bag I did. I could laugh now but I would say it came out well my mother would beg to differ, but as I progressed it became like an art.

GU: What is your favorite product amongst the ones that you have made?

Dencia: My favorite product is my dolls believe it or not. I love them, they actually define me.

GU: Did you always want to start your own business/company?

Dencia: Honestly starting my own business was not in mind. I just craft for fun. My friends however had the creating business in mind. They actually pitched it to me and a couple years later I decided to give in.

GU: What advice can you give other people who would like to start their own company?

Dencia: For anyone who would like to start their own company I would say go for it. Have a great foundation and take it one step at a time. Nothing ever happens over night. It's also great to be sheltered and listen to others. But most importantly follow your heart it is ALWAYS right.

GU: Where can people find more information about your company?

Dencia: You can and will find any other information about the business on www.facebook.com/delightfullycrafty

ANNND, here's a preview of her company's jewelry - this is one of their newer peices!

I don't know about YALL but I def can't wait to shop around and see some more of her peices!!

If you're interested in this company, be sure to check out her facebook page AND be sure to come out to 1407 Flatbush Avenue on Saturday, 4/28 at 5pm and take a look at out our facebook event page for more information!
