New Music: Have Your Way-David Metayer & One Accord

Have you ever gone through a situation in life and what you're trying to do or accomplish you tell God, "have your way?" This new single from David Metayer and One Accord, a local band  from Brooklyn, N.Y., embodies that. The first stanza says "steering the wheel of life and it has not worked for me, I've tried every lane and it has not worked for me." This song creates a story that identifyies a problem,  that many of us may face, of trying to do things on our own, but as it progresses the song CLEARLY indicates the fact that God is needed.

With the high energy sound of this bass thumping, guitar blazing, drum thrashing track, the message is phenomenal. It's a representation of us just giving all to God, surrendering our lives, will, and purpose to Him and telling him "Have Your Way." This track is one of those tracks that once you start singing it, it's easy to remember; the message becomes apart of you even if you're not noticing that. (It happens to me all the time).

This is awesome music from a great group! Please go out and purchase the single here (http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/have-your-way-single/id463930646).

Thank you all and let's unplug the Gospel.

Panpipe Worship!!

What's up everyone? Yesterday morning (9/9/11) I was heading home from handling business in the city (Manhattan for our non-NYC friends) and I was introduced to something that surprised me. While transferring from the 6 train to the E line I heard worship music being played on the pan pipe. Did you read that correctly? YES! The pan pipe.

Ok ok, let me explain. As I was walking down from the 6 train I heard, "you took the fall, and thought of me, above all." Now, I figured that the music was similar, and God was placing that song on my heart, but as I got closer it went back to the top of the chorus. "Crucified, you laid behind the stone, for me you died, rejected and alone, like a rose trampled on the ground, you took the fall and thought of me, above all." When I realized what I was hearing I got excited because it was different yet you heard the worship come from it AND it's an absolute favorite of mine. He was playing for real, he wasn't playing it because he wanted too, but he was playing to share the message that the song represents.

We usually see pan pipe players in Union Square or at 34th Street Herald Square dressed in their native garb playing music from their country, which is usually of either Central or South American origin. When I hear them I really don't pay attention to them and what they're doing, but rather continue to go about my business. I don't expect what I heard.

After "Above All" the person playing whose name I don't know, started playing "Agnus Dei," and I thought to myself, "he's bringing down the glory, pan pipe for Jesus."

It's great to see people using other ways and methods to share the greatness that is Jesus Christ. God is awesome! Next time you hear something out of the ordinary in the street or on the subway, it maybe someone proclaiming Jesus, in a way we're not used too, in a way that's unplugged.

Wet Weather Fashion

So I know you all were complaining about the blazing heat that seemed to last all summer, and because of all your complaints, the transition to fall has brought with it cold weather’s unfriendly cousin: precipitation. Just because it’s wet outside doesn’t mean you have to dress like all your clothes were destroyed by the hurricane! Dressing well in the rain can be tricky because you don’t want to ruin your nice clothes in the event that you’re caught outside and it starts to rain sideways, but it’s definitely doable. Check out the dos and don’ts of wet weather fashion below!

DO wear a simple outfit such as jeans and a casual top. Guys, make it fashionable by choosing a graphic tee or a button down in a muted print. Girls, you can get away with a pocket v-neck tee just by throwing on a statement necklace.

DON’T wear anything that might get ruined in the rain, such as suede or leather. Pretty self-explanatory.

DO have proper foot and outerwear. Rain boots or water-proof shoes are a must and come in assorted styles and price ranges for both men and women. For those who don’t like rain boots, duck boots are a less clunky option. Throw on a hooded rain jacket or even a poncho if you want. But your outfit will be a major fail if it’s fly but completely soaked.

DON’T go out with a flimsy umbrella. Nothing messes up your swag more than when your umbrella is broken and you have to pull one side down to shield your body from the rain.

DO invest in a tan trench coat. An American style classic, the trench will be useful on days where you’re dressed a bit more formally, and automatically adds a touch of class to any rain-appropriate outfit.
